What is Big Data?

Big Data is the problem in terms of velocity and Viscosity. Velocity problem occur due the large size of the data(more than capacity of the hard-disk. Viscosity problem is occur due to the I/O problem.

Speed of the Hard-disk is very slower then the speed of RAM and due to this I/O problem is occur.

Different Areas on Big Data

Social Media

1.)Facebook

Facebook is one of the most popular social networking sites in the world with approx 1.59 billon accounts. Launched in the year 2004, it has grown tremendously since then. With a sudden obsession in social media, the number of people on Facebook has increased enormously, producing a massive amount of data every minute.

Facebook stores more than 240 billion photos, with users uploading an additional 350 million new photos every single day. To house those photos, Facebook’s data center team deploys 7 petabytes of storage gear every month.

In 2012, Facebook has revealed that it is generating around 500+ terabytes of data every day. In which 2.7 billion were likes and around 300 million photos per day. Another exciting thing is Facebook is scanning around 105 terabytes of data per each half hour.

2.) Instagram

Instagram is also one of the huge social networking sites owned by Facebook.In June 2018, the daily active story users of Instagram had reached 400 million users, and monthly active users had reached 1 billion active users. 500 million daily Instagram Stories users.

3.) YouTube

  • The very first YouTube video was uploaded on 23 April 2005.
  • The total number of people who use YouTube — 1,300,000,000.
  • 300 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute!
  • Almost 5 billion videos are watched on YouTube every single day.
  • YouTube gets over 30 million visitors per day.
  • The total number of hours of video watched on YouTube each month — 3.25 billion.

4.) Twitter

Total number of monthly active user is 330 millon.

Total number of tweets sent per day is 500 millon.

Number of daily users is 152 millon.

Banking area

  • The number of banks globally is 25000.
  • The total number of accounts in the world is approx 700 millon.
  • Global non-cash transaction volumes grew at 12% during 2016–17 to reach 539 billion.

There are many more araes where BigData problem occurs like sports, healthcare, education, manufacturing, transpotation, insurance and many more.

But Banking and Social Media have a huge users so Big Data is big problem for these two sectors is high.
